Community Impact

The Urban Farm creates and nurtures relationships with like-minded community partners, offering guidance and hands-on assistance. Local projects such as the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition, FOOD for Lane County, Huerto de la Familia, The School Garden Project of Lane County and many others have relied upon Urban Farm students for this help and guidance. In a typical year, students from the Urban Farm program will contribute over 1500 volunteer hours within our local agrarian community. This not only provides our community partners a vital workforce, but also teaches our students the value and power of collaborative place-making.

In addition, students are introduced to local farmers and food processors and develop a food literacy that emerges from a hands-on, interactive experience. Over the last few decades, hundreds of UO alumni have been impacted by their experiences at the Urban Farm.
